Empower Yourself Today!

SIMPLE TIPS TO EMPOWER YOURSELF TODAY!

At some time or another, we all face hardships or challenges in our lives. When faced with problems, some of us take responsibility and get on with improving our lives, but the truth is that most of us blame other people or situations.

When you TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for yourself you EMPOWER yourself. You are the cause and the effect in your life. Only YOU determine the direction your life will take. You are in total control of your life because, THOUGHTS create FEELINGS and feelings create EXPERIENCES. Whether these experiences are deemed to be good or bad is totally connected to your thinking processes.

When you are not in control of yourself or your life you feel powerless and weak because blaming is a dis-empowering emotion. If you think by blaming others for your life experiences you are getting away from problems you are completely wrong. All you are doing is asking for more of the same (same THOUGHTS create same FEELINGS which create same EXPERIENCES) - Your problems would just recur again and again as long as you make someone or something else responsible for your life - it’s just one great big merry-go-round.

True empowerment is taking TOTAL responsibility for your life so that you are free to do whatever you want to do and be anything you choose to be.

Here are some tips to empower you today:

1) MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICES - Life is full of choices and you have the freedom to choose whatever you want and you learn through trial and error that some choices are better for you than others. Be bold and accept the outcome of your decisions, whatever they are. If your choice is favourable, be happy. If not do not blame yourself , others or external conditions. Instead, take time out to think about where you went wrong and correct yourself. This way, the next time around, you will be able to make better life choices.

2) PRACTICE BREATHING DEEPLY - When you are stressed or faced with a difficult or unclear choice, make it a habit to stop and practice deep breathing for 10-15 minutes. It is amazing how this simple exercise helpss to clear your head and clarify your thoughts. You will feel more relaxed which really allows you to think clearly and make good judgments and better decisions.

3) FEEL GRATEFUL - I talk alot about GRATITUDE because there are so many things we just take for granted in our lives. Instead of complaining about your problems look around you and realize how lucky you really are to have your good health, sunshine, food, good relationships or simply that you are ALIVE (that’ pretty cool isn’ it?). When you feel grateful you can appreciate the good stuff even if you are currently experiencing some problems in your life.

4) DEVELOP MENTAL AWARENESS - Observe your thoughts. Are they positive or negative? If your thoughts are mostly positive - terrific - you are most likely to achieve positive results because positive thoughts create positive feelings which create positive experiences.

What if you have negative thoughts? If you are aware of them you have a much better chance of cancelling out their negative influences (remember - negative thoughts create negative feelings which create negative experiences).

Just remember that ultimately YOU ARE THE MASTER OF YOUR OWN DESTINY. And if you are truly keen to create A NEW DESTINY - contact me via the inquiry forms on the Home page and Profile page in this web site and I will be happy to show you how you can do it.

How To Create A ‘Success Scrapbook’

How To Create A ‘Success Scrapbook’
If you are looking to create more success in your life, a success scrapbook helps you define your goals and gives you a quick visual reference to help you achieve the things you want by focusing your attention on them. It’s like ‘Scrap booking’ for your powerful subconscious mind and your subconscious mind sees in pictures rather than words.

Creating a ‘Success Scrapbook’ is easy, creative, inexpensive and fun to do. Just get yourself together a plain scrapbook (you know - like you used in primary school), some old magazines, travel brochures, pictures you like; and have some coloured felt pens, glue and scissors on hand.

When I make mine, I create pages for different dreams/goals. For example I have a page for material goals, another for my relationship, another for my family, another for travel, another for my health and fitness and another for more personal goals such as my spiritual, emotional and mental growth.

Then I cut and paste pictures from the magazines, travel brochures etc. into the Success Scrapbook, including pictures of myself (which I just print out from my computer) with my various goals. This ‘puts YOU in the picture’ with your dreams/goals.

Use the coloured felt pens to write powerful positive words and statements around your chosen pictures. Always make sure that anything that you write is in the present tense, e.g. I am now my ideal body weight of …….. or I am now in my dream career making an annual income of ……….. That way, you are making a powerful statement that you already have what you want.

I always make my ‘Success Scrapbook’ annually (usually at New Year, but you can start one anytime) and then I continue to add to the Scrapbook any time I want.

Like your written affirmations and goals, I strongly suggest you look over your Success Scrapbook every day and FEEL excited about what you desire. It is the combination of consistent focus and positive emotions that pull your dreams and goals toward you.

Have fun with this idea. I would love to hear from other people who do this or people who have another way to do it.

Universal Principles of Success

UNIVERSAL PRINCIPALS OF SUCCESS

Contrary to popular belief, success is not reserved only for the chosen few. Everyone has the capacity to be successful in every area of his or her life. Success results from cultivating certain habits and sticking to them. Consistency in your actions is the key!

Successful people think in a particular way and talk in a particular way and act in a particular way that is ‘consciously cultivated’. Here are a few principles of success strategies for you to follow:-

Develop a clear vision of what exactly you want to achieve in your life. Carry this vision in your mind at all times, even when you are not feeling ’successful’. This is the starting point to success.

Believe without any doubt that you will achieve your dreams. Believe in a higher power (God, universal energy, your higher self) that has been giving you whatever you needed so far in life.

Stay away from negative influences such as negative people, books, articles, TV news reports etc. Surround yourself with positive people and things that boost your belief that you will succeed and make you feel uplifted.

Take total responsibility for your future. You are not a victim! Do not depend on anybody to ‘do it for you’ and take responsibility for your life without doubting your success.

Make a habit of repeating positive affirmations. Speak out your affirmations in present tense as opposed to future tense. Writing down your affirmations is more effective and speaking them while looking into a mirror is even more powerful. Doing this every day helps your mind to stay fixed and focused on your goal. This is also a good way to build your self-confidence and deepen your belief to you are successful.

Create a Success Scrapbook- It’s easy and fun to do. Just get yourself together a plain scrapbook, some old magazines, have some coloured felt pens, glue and scissors on hand. Now create pages for your different dreams/goals. For example have a page for material goals, another for your relationships, another for travel, another for your health and fitness and another for more personal goals such as sprititual, emotional and mental growth. Cut and paste pictures into your Success Scrapbook, include pictures of yourself with your various goals. Use the coloured felt pens to write powerful positive words and statements around your pictures. You can continue to add to your Success Scrapbook any time. Like your written affirmations and goals, look over your Success Scrapbook every day and FEEL excited about what you desire.

Make a real commitment to take action.  Once you decide to take action stay committed to your goals and never give up. If you don’t take action every day your belief  becomes shaky and unstable and your efforts become inconsistent and weak. You will have wasted all your time and energy. So stay committed - it’s in your own best interests.

Set specific goals. If you know what you really want to achieve you need to define it by making it a goal. Set specific goals. Your goals should be precise, measurable, realistic and timed.

Work out a plan of action. Break down your plan into smaller tasks or units. Do your task in smaller steps, this way you are more likely to stick to your action plan. Take one or two steps each day while reminding yourself that each step is taking you closer to your goal. Your actions should be filled with belief, determination and purpose. Consistency is vital to reach your goal.

Never give up until you have achieved what you desire. Persistence is key to success. Treat every failure as a learning opportunity. But push yourself towards your goal with stronger belief. Most successful people have had many failures on their road to success and they understand that failure is not terrible - it is a necessary experience on the road to success.

Maintain an attitude of gratitude, realising that your dream is becoming a reality - it just needs consistency, belief, passion and time.  Look around you now and be grateful for the things that you already have such as a home, loving family, your health, your job/work etc. Just stay grateful. Say to yourself every day..”I am happy and grateful for… (you fill in the blank).

Be a giver, not a taker - give of your time, money and service to others. Smile at people you don’t know. Help that old lady/man you see struggling to cross the street. Be kind and generous to all.

Now you know these powerful principles of success. Act on it with belief, consistency and persistence.

Bye for now :-)

A story of Gratitude

A Story of Gratitude

I was out walking in my neighbourhood yesterday when I walked past an old man who lives at the other end of my street. I have seen him there many times before when I have been out walking or driving past, but I never took the time to actually stop and engage him in conversation. In fact, my husband and I have commented on the fact that he is always standing outside his house watching everyone and everything - like he is on guard.

This time I simply said ‘hello’ and he quickly reciprocated with a greeting. It turns out my neighbour had quite a life story to tell.

His name is Wally and he immigrated to Australia in the 1940’s with his wife and small son. He is from the Ukraine and his wife from Russia. After arriving here Wally quickly got a job as a labourer building Warragamba Dam, just outside of Sydney. He then went on to work for the Ford motor company for the majority of his working life on the production line and later as a supervisor. It was very apparent that this old man had worked very hard in his life and had also had his fair share of tragedy.

He told me that his wife of 35 years had died of cancer 12 years ago and that she had been ill with cancer for 14 years prior to that. So ill that he had to do the majority of raising their three children while being the breadwinner and looking after his wife. Amongst all this, Wally had slowly built two houses! One in a south western Sydney suburb and another house, the home he still lives in, in my street in the Blue Mountains.

His story was interesting enough, but it was his immense gratitude to Australia and the life he was able to provide for his children that really struck me. He had a pride in being here, a pride in his contribution to the Australian economy and saw his hard working life as a small payback to a country that offered him such a great life. Even at 85 years old he was happy just to be alive.

I wonder how many of us take our country for granted? or even our lives? The message is that even when things are tough and life seems to be kicking you, there is always something to be grateful for.

What is success anyway?

SO WHAT IS SUCCESS ANYWAY?

I aim with this blog page is to share my thoughts and experiences in relation to a variety of success and personal development topics.

Today I am talking about SUCCESS. What is success? Is it having lots of money in your bank account? Is it achieving happy and emotionally connected relationships? Is it bringing the very best YOU to your work? Success is a personal thing, having different meanings for different people. For example, one person may want lots of money to buy MATERIAL COMFORTS but another person is more motivated by achieving FREEDOM and TIME, which having lots of money will also provide them.

My idea of SUCCESS is having a BALANCED LIFE. There is no use having all the money in the world if you are unhealthy or emotionally unhappy. Equally, if you are unhappy in your relationships or working life or unhealthy in your body you are unlikely to attract the money you want because you are not in the right MINDSET to create it. It takes guts to look at yourself honestly and see the areas where you may not be balanced and it takes work and focused effort to create a balanced life and that is where PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT is very important to SUCCESS.

In my life, I will admit I became very unbalanced in my working life (working too hard and too much and becoming a stress head) which in turn, lead me to ignore the needs of my body for better food and more exercise. This then lead me to a health crisis (and a painful back operation). So while I had success in my job (and money in the bank) I was neglecting other very important areas of my life. The good news is that once I became AWARE of my imbalances I decided to change my life through PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT on those areas that were not serving me to bring the balance back.

I don’t think any of us ever achieves a perfect balance; we just have to stay AWARE of ourselves and our behaviors to see if they are moving us towards happiness and success - or not.

So I will leave you with a question. Where are YOU balanced and not balanced in your life right now?  Take a quick inventory.  What key areas in your life are OUT OF BALANCE? Your relationship? Your health? Your Working life? If you are honest with yourself and focus more on the weaker areas you will find better balance and in turn, more SUCCESS in all areas of your precious life.

I look forward to your comments. Bye for now :-)
